Coming up with New Year’s resolutions can feel daunting. But it’s a great excuse to get out of your current routine and experience more in Tampa Bay.
Whether you’re hoping to spend more time exploring the Gulf this year or make new pals, we’ve got you:
Kayak TBAY’s waterways
Kayaking or paddle boarding is one of the best ways to deepen your appreciation for our bays, rivers, slices of the Gulf, and streams. And you get a workout in and toned arms to boot.
Local companies like Get Up and Go Kayaking offer clear kayak tours. Or check out our guide for local spots to launch into on your own.
Get into running
Ready to embrace prime outdoor running season in Florida? The best way to get started is finding folks to keep you accountable, and will make the journey fun (or at least moderately enjoyable).
Thankfully, there’s a plethora of run clubs to choose from across Tampa Bay, like Off Balanced Run Club or Pinellas Run Club. We’ll help you narrow it down with our guide.
Don’t worry, we’ve got resources for the solo striders too. We rounded up local parks with winding sidewalks and waterfront views that’ll power you through your run.
By next spring, you’ll be ready for the Gasparilla Distance Classic.
Shuffleboard it out
One of Tampa Bay’s long-time, quirky mainstays is its shuffleboard community. For the non-shufflers among us: Players use cues to push discs down a marked court.
Founded in 1924, the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club offers open play on Friday nights from 7 to 10 p.m., and beginner boot camps for learning the basics.
Hit the court indoors at Tampa Heights’ Shuffle. “Florida’s only indoor shuffleboard bar” hosts a variety of leagues and serves eats aplenty.
Join the arts scene
We’re known for our world-class museums, arts festivals, and the absolute boatload of galleries and creatives across TBAY. And there’s plenty of ways to get your start — no experience needed.
Sign up for a studio arts series through the Tampa Museum of Art or a pottery class at the Morean Center for Clay. We’ve got options.
Or make a trip to one of our many museums, covering everything from the works of Salvador Dalí to our local baseball history. And yes, we have a guide for that too.
