Think outside of the sandbox, TBAY.

The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival in Clearwater is back. This year’s festival brings together 14 sand sculptors from around the world, each tasked with creating intricate creations based on the theme of “SANDimals, An Animal Adventure.”

The event runs for 17 days, from Friday, April 7-Sunday, April 23. Tickets to the sculpture exhibit are $14 per person, and kids three and under get in for free. You can watch the artists sculpt and model their creations during the speed contests held on the weekends at 4 p.m.

The festival features not only stunning sculptures but also a variety of competitions, live music, and much more.

If you’re a cornhole enthusiast, you won’t want to miss out on the upcoming tournament on Saturday, April 8. Just bring your A-game and a $25 entry fee. The winner takes home $1,000.

The festival also has three free concerts + fireworks shows.

  • Saturday, April 8, 8 p.m.: The Black Honkeys Band | 9:30 p.m. fireworks
  • Saturday, April 15, 8 p.m.: Soul Circus Cowboys | 9:30 p.m. fireworks
  • Saturday, April 22, 7:30 p.m.: TL Jentgens | 9:30 p.m. fireworks
