Pack up the cooler and life jackets, TBAY — we’re goin’ canoeing.

In celebration of National Canoeing Day, we thought we’d share a few spots to get suited up + take in those legendary sunsets right on the water.

Rentals + Shops

  • Canoe Country Outfitters, 6493 54th Ave. N., St. Petersburg | This locally-owned spots says it boasts one of the largest canoe selections in the state — from lightweight models to more durable options.
  • Windsong Boat Rentals, 4927 US Hwy. 19, New Port Richey | Rent a three-seater for a half or full day and head out on the nearby Green Key Bay, Cotee River, or Weeki Wachee — plus each model has a built-in cooler.

Spots

  • Lettuce Lake Conservation Park, 6920 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa | This popular Tampa park sits on a slice of the Hillsborough River floodplain + you can rent canoes and kayaks on site.
  • Boca Ciega Millennium Park, 12410 74th Ave. N., Seminole | Take in Boca Ciega Bay views from the comfort of your kayak — bring your binoculars to check the wide array of birds.
  • Little Manatee River State Park, 215 Lightfoot Rd., Wimauma | Head 40 minutes outside Tampa to canoe the 4.5-mile, uber peaceful river. Pro tip: Bring your camera to capture shots of manatees this summer.
