Here we grow again. In case you missed it, there’s quite a bit of construction dust flying about this winter.
Here’s a look at a few up-and-comping projects in Tampa:
The Main Street Quick Build
Huge news for West Tampa residents: Main Street is getting a whole new look.
The $300,000 project includes:
- Repaving the stretch of the popular street from North Armenia Avenue to North Boulevard
- Adding 220+ parking spots
- Adding improved crosswalks and painted curb extensions
- Creating a four-way stop at Main and North Albany Avenue
Leaders hope that making the street narrower to slow down traffic + beefing up the pedestrian safety elements will make the street — which is close to part of the city’s High Injury Network — markedly safer.
Construction kicked off earlier this month, and should wrap up in mid-February, according to the city.
New South Tampa affordable housing complex opens
Wondering what’s going up just down the street from Dairy Joy?
Casa Bel Mar, a new 100-unit apartment complex opens this week on South Manhattan Avenue. Located right in the heart of South Tampa, the four-story building boasts a slew of one and two-bedroom apartments.
It’s one of the Cigar City’s latest efforts to make workforce housing more affordable.
The City says ten of the complex’s units will be set aside for people moving out of temporary housing like Tampa Hope cottages. Residents will pay between $895 and $1,400 a month — no more than 30% of their income going toward rent.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino upgrades
One of TBAY’s biggest hotels just unveiled a $65 million renovation.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s new look includes a new gaming area with 350 slot machines. Hotel leaders also opened the revamped Fresh Harvest Buffet and renovated smoke-free hotel rooms.
