Forecasters have issued multiple heat advisory warnings in recent weeks, but no sweat. We’re here to help cool you down — we’re used to steamy (late) July days anyway.

In fact, this weather is pretty typical for the record-breaking year, according to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay office. The actual temperature, “feels like” temperature, and the humidity have all been higher than normal — bumping up the heat index 5-10 degrees.

Forecasters issued a heat advisory warning yesterday and predict the roasting temps will last all week — with 94-degree weather lasting at least through the weekend and heat indexes in the 100-degree realm.

NOAA climatologists predict above average temperatures for the next week or so.

Here are a few tips:

  • We recommend keeping track of the forecast via the National Weather Service Tampa Bay website + follow the office on Twitter for updates.
  • Looking for ways to keep kids entertained indoors? Our guide to kid-friendly places includes fun TBAY museums, ice cream joints, and restaurants to hole up in for the afternoon.
  • Make sure to keep extra water bottles in your car, bag, and fridge to stay hydrated. Also, make sure to keep a foldable bowl in your car or bag to keep Fido cool during walks.
  • Experts recommend limiting time outdoors during heat advisories. But once the temps drop back down, consider heading to one of our local splash pads or beaches to cool down.
  • Try to stay cool by wearing loose-fitting, light clothing. Now’s the perfect chance to check out the brand-new Saltwash Boutique for a breezy neutral dress or top, or hunt for new finds at Hyde Park Village.

Long story short: It’ll be hot this week, but we’ll make it through.
