Celebrate World Ocean Day in Tampa Bay

Give back to the Gulf of Mexico by checking out these Tampa + St. Pete events.

The sun sets in Madeira Beach, Florida. The sun is omitting yellow, orange, and red rays and beams as it sits right on the horizon of the ocean in the distance. There is a boat in the water and someone taking a photo on the sand.

Don’t take these Gulf Coast sunsets for granted, folks.

This time of year, we have a little extra love for the best place to escape the sweltering heat: the Gulf of Mexico. So this Saturday, June 8, take part in celebrating World Ocean Day — a day of action in support of the great big blue that connects us.

We’ve fished out a couple of options to shell-ebrate.

  • Join Keep Pinellas Beautiful and TradeWinds Island Resorts for a World Ocean Day Celebration on the Rumfish Resort Lawn. Check out 30+ organizations — like Tampa Bay Watch, Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, and Sea Turtle Trackers — and vendors to learn how you can protect our beloved waters.
  • Don your best “Tropical Cocktail” attire and head to the World Ocean Day Soirée at the Florida Aquarium. Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour on the downtown Tampa spot’s rooftop terrace + set sail on Bay Spirit II, a 72-ft catamaran.
